About Us

NextWave has created the first private network service that combines dedicated licensed spectrum with advanced wide-area networks and a massive ecosystem of compatible devices.  NextWave combines the coverage and capacity of a traditional wireless operator with the performance and security of a custom-built private network.

Dedicated Private Network Spectrum

Private networks need dedicated spectrum.  However, the best spectrum resources are controlled by major network carriers.  This is especially true in urbanized environments, where these traditional multi-purpose carriers lack the capacity to devote scarce RF spectrum to private networks.

NextWave controls high performance Band 41 spectrum, which is the cornerstone of many 5G service offerings in the United States and around the globe.  However, unlike the major carriers that must use Band 41 to provide generic connectivity to millions of consumers, NextWave can dedicate its Band 41 service to high priority industrial and enterprise applications.  With more than 50 MHz of licensed spectrum in major markets like New York City, NextWave provides private networks with secure wide-area mobile broadband capabilities.

Major Carrier Spectrum in the Hands of Private Networks - Band 41 (2.5 GHz) is the cornerstone of major carrier 5G service offerings. In markets like New York, NextWave holds 50 MHz of the band, which can be solely devoted to mission critical network services.

Wide Area Private Networks

Private networks are typically defined as short-range systems that work only within industrial facilities or enterprise office environments.  Yet, the need for reliable, high-performance and secure connectivity often does not end at the front door or the front gate.  Many of the most demanding private network applications require wide-area connectivity that seamlessly links multiple facilities over a large service area.

NextWave is building independent wide-area Band 41 networks across major metropolitan service areas in the United States.  This means that the same high-security and low-latency performance that private network users enjoy in their facilities can be extended over significant geographic areas.  The result is a dedicated private network to enable next-generation application with connectivity requirements that go significantly beyond the capabilities of traditional wireless network providers.

Wide Area Coverage for Critical Communications - Beyond covering customer facilities, NextWave is using its own macro cellular Band 41 network to create contiguous coverage across major urban environments. Shown above is Phase I of NextWave’s New York Metro network.
